This project was a solo exhibition of work by David Degner and consisted of photographs printed on large vinyl canvases and others mounted into light boxes in two sizes. The space was a recently restored 15th-century heritage site turned arts and culture venue called MASQ that is managed by The Sultan Foundation in Cairo’s City of the Dead. Technically, each wall had to be assessed separately and in some cases, free standing mounts were custom built to hold the artworks in place in order to leave the original structure intact. The space also required rewiring and custom lighting, and the delicate artworks received a carefully orchestrated transportation to MASQ. Modern Miracles drew a record breaking audience on its opening night and held a consistent stream of visitors throughout its run.
